Zoë Gilby’s solo project with a vocal loop station and a vocal harmonizer, Zoë has produced a collection of solo vocal improvisations. Ranging from composed song based textural pieces to free improvisation, demonstrating the dexterity of the human voice. Processing manipulation and distortion, with spoken word and percussive ethereal soundscapes. Whispering, natural sounds of the human voice that experiment with the synthetic and the robotic. Inhabiting different musical territories. Interrogating ideas of what a vocalist might be and the expectations about what a female vocalist might create. She has since performed this project and collaborated alongside free-improvisers, UK drummer Charlie Collins and Japanese pianist Yoko Muira
